Platform | HP OMEN | OS | Rocky 9.1 | OS Version | 9.1 |
Summary | 0001420: sddm does not allow login
Description | With a fresh install of Rocky 9.1 I attempt to install Plasma. This worked with 9.0 (instructions found on the web). All goes without error. Upon reboot after disabling gdm and enabling sddm, keyboard input is not possible. Randomly, the mouse may or may not move the cursor but even if the cursor moves clicking has no effect. Plasma was working fine on 9.0 but accepting the upgrade to 9.1 broke everything. Prior to 9.0 I was using Rocky 8.5 with plasma. I will attempt an install of 8.7 to see if that works. It would be nice if plasma was an option at install time so there would not be all these hoops to jump through to get a decent desktop.
Steps To Reproduce | Here are the commands used to install plasma. 2 dnf -y install epel-release 3 dnf config-manager --set-enabled crb 4 dnf -y update 5 dnf group -y install "KDE Plasma Workspaces" 10 sudo systemctl disable gdm 11 sudo systemctl enable sddm ---REBOOT
Additional Information | Switching to another terminal I notice many messages involving the nouveau display driver. In a second attempt I installed the nvidia driver for my card. With that driver installed sddm does not even get activated. I am enabling sddm so that I can choose plasma. 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation TU102 [GeForce RTX 2080 Ti] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd.
