| Summary | 0012145: Version mismatch between Gstreamer and plugins. Error in snapshot (Gnome Camera) | ||||
| Description | There is a version mismatch between Gstreamer and plugins. The "snapshot" application (Gnome Camera), for example, cannot be launched because this mismatch prevents the corresponding plugin (pipewire-gstreamer) from loading. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | With a Gnome installation, launching the camera app (Snapshot) results in a black screen. Running it from a terminal produces an error because GStreamer cannot load the corresponding plugin. | ||||

Of course. I performed a clean installation as a workstation with Gnome Desktop. The same thing happens even when booting from the Gnome live ISO. I have verified that the problem does not occur in Red Hat. Using the pipewire-gstreamer package from another EL 10.1 distro, for example, the problem is removed. ----- rpm -qa | grep gstreamer gstreamer1-1.24.11-1.el10.x86_64 gstreamer1-plugins-base-1.24.11-1.el10.x86_64 gstreamer1-plugins-bad-free-libs-1.24.11-2.el10_0.x86_64 gstreamer1-plugins-bad-free-1.24.11-2.el10_0.x86_64 gstreamer1-plugins-good-1.24.11-1.el10.x86_64 pipewire-gstreamer-1.4.6-1.el10.x86_64 gstreamer1-plugins-ugly-free-1.24.11-1.el10.x86_64 PackageKit-gstreamer-plugin-1.2.8-8.el10.x86_64 ----- snapshot 2026-02-27T16:58:41.566051Z INFO snapshot::application::imp: Snapshot (org.gnome.Snapshot) 2026-02-27T16:58:41.566065Z INFO snapshot::application::imp: Version: 46.3 2026-02-27T16:58:41.566068Z INFO snapshot::application::imp: Datadir: /usr/share/snapshot MESA-INTEL: warning: Haswell Vulkan support is incomplete MESA-INTEL: warning: ../src/intel/vulkan_hasvk/anv_formats.c:752: FINISHME: support YUV colorspace with DRM format modifiers MESA-INTEL: warning: ../src/intel/vulkan_hasvk/anv_formats.c:783: FINISHME: support more multi-planar formats with DRM modifiers 2026-02-27T16:58:42.000363Z ERROR snapshot::widgets::camera: Could not start the device provider: Missing gstreamer plugin pipewiredeviceprovider |
