| Summary | 0011353: RTL 8111H network adapter does not get IP address after update - installer also fails to enable adapter | ||||
| Description | I have a Rocky 9.6 install and after updating to 9.7 first I had issues with the amdgpu driver giving me a blank screen at the login prompt, then after blacklisting the driver I've found out that the network adapters that I used no longer get an IP address. I use an ASUS TUF GAMING B450M-PLUS II motherboard it's onboard network adapter is a realtek RTL 8111H, and I also use a generic pcie 1x network adapter that also uses the RTL8111 chipset. Had them in a bond configuration primary-backup then I reconfigured them to use normal ethernet with dhcp (deleted the NetworkManager devices, connection profiles and recreated them), same issue, I can see that the activity lights are on but I get no IP. I wanted to reinstall the system and I booted up a Rocky 10.1 installer from an usb drive, and I've experienced the same issue, in the installer I can't enable NTP sync as the network adapter stays in "connecting" status indefinitely. Can't confirm that 10.1 also has this issues with updates. I also tried updating the system by downloading the rocky base and appstream repos and did a local update on my 9.7 system, but this also did not solve the error. I can manually set an IP on the interface and it shows up but there seems to be no network traffic throug the interfaces, I get destination unreachable, even on the local network. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | 1. Have an RTL 8111 ethernet card, boot the Rocky 10.1 installer and see if the network card becomes connected and get's an IP. 2. Have an RTL8111 ethernet card and boot Rocky 9.7 and try to get an IP via DHCP and try to have traffic going | ||||
